Pipe beveling prepares the edge of a pipe for welding by cutting a precise angled face — a V, X or K bevel — so the weld joint has the correct groove geometry and penetration once welded. Getting this angle wrong, or inconsistent along the pipe's circumference, is a common source of weld defects in pressure piping, which is why beveling is treated as a precision operation rather than a rough cut in high-integrity applications like oil, gas and power generation piping. Automated beveling machines hold the bevel angle and depth constant all the way around the pipe, including on out-of-round sections where a manual torch would drift. PCL's beveling equipment spans compact plasma bevel heads for standard pipe sizes up to heavy-duty rotary systems for large-diameter, thick-wall pipe used in petrochemical and infrastructure projects.
