PCL's structural steel laser cutting line was built for one job: taking H-beams, I-beams and channel off the mill and turning them into finished, weld-ready members without a marking table or oxy torch in sight. A high-power fiber source rides on a 6-axis robotic head, so the machine cuts square ends, bevels, copes and bolt holes in the same pass — on the same profile, without repositioning.
Verticality matters most in structural work, and this is where the robotic head earns its keep: it holds cut-face accuracy across the full depth of the beam, which is what lets a fit-up crew skip secondary grinding before welding.
High-Precision Cutting
The fiber laser source and 6-axis robot combine to hold verticality and dimensional accuracy across the whole profile — the tolerance structural steel assembly actually depends on. Full 3D profiling means compound bevels and intersecting holes are cut in one program, not stitched together from multiple setups.
Software Compatibility
Tekla and AutoCAD files (DSTV, DXF) import directly into the control system. A 3D structural model becomes a cutting program automatically, so there's no manual re-drawing step between the design office and the shop floor — and no transcription errors along the way.
Built for Long Profiles
A heavy-duty gantry frame and a purpose-built conveyor system handle profiles up to 12 metres, feeding and centering material automatically. Integrated cooling and dust extraction keep the machine running clean through multi-shift production.
